The Outreach Ministry at St. John's provides support and services to our local community and to diocesan ministries through the following initiatives.
Hospitality Meal Program
For 27 years, the church of St. John the Evangelist has been welcoming Londoners experiencing hunger to dinner every Saturday night without a break. This year, a Tuesday Lunch has been added to address the increased need for food in our community. The delivery of the meal programs is supported by dedicated volunteers from our congregation, other churches and the broader community.
Outdoor Food Pantry
This year, an Outdoor Food Pantry was added. Parishioners and the neighbourhood community provide donations which allows for the Pantry to be restocked frequently.
Christmas Baskets
For over 20 years we have had a Christmas Outreach to the community providing London families with goodwill baskets. The families are nominated by St. Johns personnel, Family Services Thames Valley, and Rotholme Family Shelter.
Food Drives
A couple of times a year we collect food to send to St. Paul’s Food Bank or collect other items for places like the local women’s shelter.
Other Projects
We also support the following:
- Clergy Outreach Discretionary Fund
- Family Services Thames Valley
- Huron Church Camp—campers bursaries
- St. Paul’s Social Services
