Sunday Coffee in the Cloister

For folks who arrive for Sunday worship a bit earlier than most, and who might like a hot cup of coffee while chatting with other early birds, coffee will be served between 10:00 and 10:30. Coffee in the parish hall after the 10:30 a.m. service will continue as usual.

Getting to Know You – Let’s Eat Together

Join a small group from the church (or not) at a dinner in the host’s home.  Contribute an appetizer or dessert.  Enjoy lively conversation and good fellowship and get to know some of your fellow parishioners a lot better.

Who? Open to everyone.

What? Parish Social Dinner

When? June 3 or June 4 (your choice)

Where? At host’s home

Why? For fun and recreation

Pews to Urns for $250

Have you made your funeral arrangements? We are pleased to offer beautifully handcrafted Urns made from wood harvested from a few pews that have been removed from the church. To purchase an Urn for $250, please contact the office to place your order. Quantities are limited. Contact office@stjohnslondon.ca or 519-432-3743.

Tea and Chat at St. John’s (and coffee too)

St. John’s Pastoral Care Committee invite you to our new weekly “Tea & Chat”, and there will be coffee and cookies too (we aim to be peanut aware). Join us every Thursday 2pm-4pm in our Church Hall. Seniors, parents & children are all welcome. Invite your friends and neighbours.

Bring some cards or games to share if you like. Let’s all have some fun together. Transportation can be provided for those who need a ride.  Just call the office at 519-432-3743.

We look forward to having you join us and making some new friends.

St. John’s Family Friday – Friday May 6th

All are welcome as we gather at 6 p.m. for a potluck supper. We will sing as we arrive, share a meal and have crafts and activities for the children following dessert. Come and enjoy good food and conversation. For more information, please contact Rev. Patty.

“Prayer Unites” – The 2016 Bishop of Huron Prayer Conference

The 2016 Bishop of Huron Prayer Conference will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral – 472 Richmond Street, London Ontario.

Doors open at 9:00 a.m. for book and AFP Resource Browsing, Registration and Refreshments.  Cost is $20 with lunch Included

The Celtic Way of Prayer: deeply grounded in creation and the ordinary with Bishop Barry Clarke
Join us as Bishop Barry Clarke, currently serving as Dean of our Cathedral, shares with us his experience of Celtic Spirituality. Bishop Clarke will be addressing us in the morning, at the mid-day Eucharist and at afternoon workshops.

Afternoon Workshops:

  • The place of Creation in Celtic Spirituality
  • Working with Celtic Art and Symbols
  • Crafting Everyday Prayers

Volunteers Needed for Inmate Book Club

The Outreach Committee is exploring the idea of replicating Carol Finlay’s “Book Clubs for Inmates” here in London at the Regional Detention Centre. We visualize teams of two volunteers leading two discussions each month (for groups of 6-8 inmates) for each chosen book, rotating month-to-month, depending on demand and availability. If the idea appeals to you, please contact John Thompson (mskdoc@sympatico.ca). He can arrange for Ellen McKegney, Volunteer Services Coordinator at the Elgin-Middlesex Detention Centre to come to

St. John’s and give us some idea of what this would involve. We hope to start the program in the Fall, but paperwork (including police checks) takes about six weeks and will need to be completed before then.

Yard & Book Sale A Success!

The Yard and Book Sale was a great success raising $2,780.00 for Outreach and the Alfarekh family.  Outreach thanks all donors and workers for their hard work.  We thank especially Susan Blocker and Yvonne Collyer who organized the Yard Sale, and Ana and John Thompson who organized the Book Sale.
